Tourism on the island of Hvar is most developed in the town of Hvar and in Jelsa while modern marinas have been built in Vrboska and on Paklenim otocima (Hell's Islands).
The town of Hvar is simultaneously a place of rich cultural-historical heritage and a popular nightlife venue since its summer parties are probably the best in the Adriatic. The old town of Hvar offers various events, among which the Pharos Marathon – Croatian Long Distance Swimming Open deserves a special place.
